FAQs

What is the age range of your students?

I offer drum lessons for kids, teens, and adults at the beginner through intermediate levels.

Younger students focus on coordination, rhythm basics, and building confidence at the drum set. Pre-teens and middle school students develop stronger technique, reading skills, and steady timing as they grow.

For teens, lessons can support school programs like jazz band and marching band, including drumline technique, or help build the skills needed to join a band outside of school.

Adult drum lessons are available for both beginners and more seasoned players who want to strengthen fundamentals, improve technique, and feel more comfortable and capable behind the kit.

Where do you teach?

I offer in-home drum lessons for students in Burlington, Vermont and the surrounding area. This includes Winooski, South Burlington, Colchester, Essex, and nearby communities. Lessons take place right in the student’s home for convenience and comfort. A small travel fee may apply depending on distance.

I also teach in-studio at the Burlington Music Dojo, with additional studio locations in the Burlington area potentially added in the future.

If you’re unsure whether you’re within the service area, feel free to reach out and ask.

What musical styles do you teach?

Lessons focus on strong fundamentals and technique that apply across styles. Students at the beginner through intermediate level can explore rock, indie rock, funk, jazz, and Latin rhythms while building solid timing, coordination, and musical awareness.

Because good technique translates across genres, students develop skills that allow them to move comfortably between styles. If a student decides to pursue a highly specialized path — such as advanced jazz performance or a specific niche genre — I’m happy to recommend trusted local instructors who focus deeply in that area.

The goal is to build a strong foundation first, then support whatever musical direction a student wants to grow into.
